Overview

Grameen Shikkha's core mission is to provide financial assistance to impoverished, disadvantaged, and disabled children, enabling them to access quality education. The program’s impact extends beyond primary education, with a strong focus on higher education, including medical scholarships to address critical healthcare shortages.

Grameen Scholarship

Since 1997, Grameen Telecom has introduced education scholarships through Grameen Shikkha. The program was initially started with 33 students. Grameen Telecom Higher Education Scholarship is ongoing under the Grameen Shikkaa Student Scholarship Management Program. Grameen Telecom has funded the ``Grameen Scholarship and Training Project'' to further expand this educational scholarship program. Scholarships are being given to the poor, underprivileged and disabled children under this program.

Doctors are also being given scholarships for higher education to ensure health care. About 1.62 crore taka have been paid so far from Grameen Telecom in this sector. 31.00 lakhs have been paid to rural education as advance.
An agreement has been signed between Grameen Shikkha and Grameen Telecom on 26 November, 2019 in following manners.

Activities under the project- Scholarship for orphan and poor scholar students, scholarship for mental and physical special students, software development, training at Japan Auto mechanic school, Nursing scholarship, health-related professional training, training for young entrepreneurs, Research, publications and documentation.
